Key Factors & Solutions
The key constraint for this project was having to demolish the main building whilst retaining the ground floor slab above the basement. The structure had to be carefully demolished over the ground floor slab ensuring that plant never tracked over the ground floor slab and that the arising were continuously cleared from the slab to prevent overloading.
Protecting and working around live electric head was another key risk on site that had to be controlled. Due to delays in the initial isolations a protective enclosure had to be installed around the live head to slow for the works to continue safely. The enclosure was formed from scaffolding and timber boards to allow for the demolition works to be completed by hand around the live incoming head. Access to the live head was retained.
The key constraint for this project was the proximity to the neighbouring building. During the party wall discussions a full SEP was completed as part
